You will first need to register your ActivSlate to your Promethean ActivBoard or ActivHub. To determine which version of ActivSlate you have and find information on registering your slate, check out the ActivSlate page on the wiki.
The ActivSlate will last for 24 hours of constant pen to surface use. They typical classroom usage is 3 hours per day, which would equate to charging once every two months. The ActivSlate will automatically enter into sleep mode when the ActivPen has not been in contact with the surface for 1 to 10 minutes. The user can define how many minutes until the ActivSlate will enter sleep mode by clicking on the orange circle on the ActivSlate.
Three hours
This is an Operating System specific issue with OS X 10.6 where the on-screen keyboard won't initialize using the ActivInspire tools.
The work around is
1. Open System Preferences > Language and Text > Input Sources
2. Check the box "Show Input Menu in Menu Bar"
3. Click on the icon in the main menu bar at the top of your screen.
4. Select "Keyboard Viewer" from the drop down menu on the main menu bar to initialize the on-screen keyboard.

Online: You can access free courses on Promethean Planet for the ActivStudio and ActivInspire software as well as a course on the learner response systems including the ActiVotes, ActivExpressions and ActivEngage.
